After a morning in Stanford and a visit to the Kleine Rivier Cheese Farm it was time for lunch and we had a reservation at The Tasting Room restaurant at Stanford Hills Wine Estate
This was to be another spectacular find!
A very small sign pointed us in the direction of Stanford Hills along a gravel road to nowhere. When we finally climbed out of the car and turned around we discovered how far up the road we had driven and what an amazing view of the valley we had!
Besides the obvious perks to spending a Saturday afternoon in a setting like this, the ambience was hard to beat too… probably because everyone enjoying lunch in this location couldn’t believe their good fortune and spirits were high. We loved the warm welcome, casual atmosphere and rustic decor… and the food was pretty damn good too!
My husband ordered pork belly in an asian inspired noodle dish, I had the chicken pesto pasta and my kids were catered for with sausages or chicken nuggets and chips.
The kids highlight, besides the huge lawns, jungle gym, go karts and trampoline, was the visiting lamb – who promptly plopped himself down in the middle of the restaurant right next to our table for a little cuddle!
