An afternoon in Storms River Village

During our day cruising The Crags in the Tsitsikamma region of the Garden Route we spent a day enjoying the spoils of tiny town known as Storms River Village. This little hidden hamlet was the spot where we departed for our Woodcutters Adventure deep into the Tsitsikamma Indigenous Forest.

On our return from our foray into the forest, we found ourselves with an hour or so before our next adventure… ziplining! So we made the most of our wait and spent some time exploring the authentic American style diner known as Marilyn’s 60’s Diner!

This quirky 50’s and 60’s diner is the last thing you expect to find in such a naturally beautiful and adrenalin fueled town, but it certainly is fab find – whether you stumble upon it or make the effort to visit it as a destination in itself! It really is worth traveling to, especially if you find yourself on the N2 between Plettenberg Bay and Port Elizabeth

The diner was created by Jan and Ann du Rand and the decor features an eclectic mix of retro finds such as Cadillac’s and Chevy’s, neon rimmed signage, Elvis and Marilyn memorabilia and even a jukebox. My kids found the memorabilia from another era fascinating especially the polaroid cameras, pinball machines and motorbike collection.

From the checked floors to the red & white colour scheme, sugar shakers, American food and memorable milkshakes, you may forget for a few moments that you’re actually in the heart of South Africa!
