During our recent family holiday down the Garden Route, I gave each of my kids the chance to choose their preferred adventure activity or outing. My teenage son was most excited about going ziplining with Knysna Ziplines.
I had enjoyed this adrenaline pumping activity a few months back and, at the time, I wished I had my family with me to enjoy the fun. I was more than happy to visit again just a few months later. When it comes to ziplining my motto is: Never enough!
Knysna Ziplines are situated in the Kranshoek region of the Knysna Forest and they currently have six ziplines (with plans to extend to two more). Extremely long cables crisscross the gorge, making for a most memorable experience.
This unique experience sees you ascend one wooden platform after another, only to hurtle yourself (safely strapped in by the professional guides!) across the valley at top speed!
The course sees you soaring through the sky high above the treetops of the indigenous forest in the deep gorge below.
While whizzing through the air you might have time to admire the spectacular natural landscapes, including plunging waterfalls and dramatic coastline, but that’s only if you manage to keep your eyes open!
Their lines are some of the longest and highest ziplines in South Africa so be sure to have overcome your fear of heights before you arrive (or use this as an opportunity to do just that) as some of the ziplines are over 200m above sea level!
We all enjoyed the outing to the extreme and even our 11-year-old “lighty” was able to tandem with a friendly guide to enjoy the full experience!
This is the 5th ziplining experience I have enjoyed (Elgin, Cape Town, Tsitsikamma, Drakensberg… to name the others) and I have loved them all. They are all great fun and offer a different experience at each venue so, if the ziplining bug bites, I recommend that you try to visit them all!
Highly recommended as a fun family outing for all ages and fitness levels. The memories made will be enjoyed for years to come!

Bookings are essential due to limited capacity re: Covid 19 regulation.
Self-drive your own vehicle into the park at no additional cost or pay an additional fee of R150 per person for a lift into the park.
Rent a GoPro from R350 per person. (You will receive the SD card after the trip)
NB: All booked participants and enquiries must visit the Knysna Ziplines office at Harkerville Forest Lodge prior to driving into the park as all admin relating to participating in the adventure needs to be completed before entering the park.
