Late last Saturday afternoon we were in the city centre after visiting the National Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at the SA National Musueum (one of my “must visit” exhibitions held each year at this time) We weren’t quiet ready to head home yet so I suggested a visit to the new kids play area at Green Point Park.

I had visited the section for 0 – 6 year olds but never the area for slightly older kids and wanted to see what was on offer.

When we arrived I was overwhelmed by the number of families out enjoying the last of the sun. Picnics dotted the lawn and there were plenty of kiddies birthday parties going on too. There was a great atmosphere of Capetonians enjoying their city!

My kids thoroughly enjoyed both the play areas – we had to visit both as we have kids who are at different levels – slides and swing, monkey bars and ropes, see-saws and balance beams – there was so much to do! We could have stayed longer but had to head home for supper, but before we did we snuck in an orange ice lolly for good measure….

Green Point Park has become so popular and is such an asset to our city. I hope it remains well cared for so that many more families can enjoy it! Unfortunately, I did notice that many of the groups seemed to be leaving litter around and not putting it in the designated recycling bins. It was a bit annoying considering how new and lovely this space is…. I hope that everyone who enjoys it keeps it that way!
