Last week I shared all about our stay at Lagoon View – a self-catering house located right on the edge of the Hermanus Lagoon. We had a fabulous time with friends enjoying the spacious house and endless views, but we also had 4 kids with us so at some point we realised we need to get out and about so we headed off to discover the Hermanus Country Market on the Saturday morning.
Surprisingly I had never visited this market before… probably because I’ve not actually spent much time in Hermanus before!
But what a lovely surprise the Hermanus Country Market is.
The market was abuzz with activity when we arrived mid-morning, There are clothes stalls, homemade arts & crafts, second hand book stands, fresh produce and delicious food on offer, not to mention a lovely community atmosphere with lots of families, kids and dogs out enjoying the morning together which really made this market a delight to visit.
It takes place every Saturday morning (until 1pm) throughout winter and summer and is 100% family & pet friendly. Younger kiddies will love the local puppet show and the Whale Express – a fun train ride that slowly snakes its way through the crowd!
This is a great spot to head to for a fresh cup of coffee and a delicious breakfast on a Saturday morning – you can choose from eggs, bacon, pancakes, freshly baked treats and vegetarian delights.
Before you go be sure to pick up something from the delicious farm-fresh produce on offer – maybe some home bakes, homemade jams, olives, olive oil, seasonal berries, fresh flowers, juices, nuts, artisan breads or baked goodies.
The Hermanus Country Market is located near the Hermanus Cricket Grounds and entrance is free! Parking is a bit tricky, but if you’re patient or don’t mind a bit of a walk you won’t struggle too much.
